Spiced Plum Pie


one pie crust–store bought or try our easy homemade whole wheat crust!

1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons (packed) finely grated orange peel
3/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/2 pounds plums, halved, pitted, each half cut into 4 wedges


Prepare our pie crust as instructed or take out of package and follow those instructions!

For homemade pie crust:
Roll out pie crust on floured surface, to fit pie dish
Transfer to pie dish
Trim overhang
Refrigerate crust while preparing filling

Preheat oven to 375 F

Whisk all the ingredients (except the plums and vanilla) together in a bowl
Add plums and vanilla and toss gently to coat evenly
Pour plum filling into pie crust

Bake for 30 minutes
Check pie, to make sure crust isn’t browning to much (cover with foil if it is)
Bake for another 15-30 minutes depending on your oven
